what would be the best way to start working out to lose weight if someone has never worked out before? I tried this workout dvd yesterday and woke up with incredible sore thighs..I think it was too much for my first time. I used to weigh 201 and have dropped to 135..but i did this only by change of diet..no exercise involved. and now it’s time to tone up and i dont know where to begin.

to answer your question… time to start with walking. walking builds stamina and tones the butt and legs. then grab the soup cans, one for each hand and start toning your upper body… just do anything with your arms, with the soup cans in your hands… bend your arms up, down, side to side.. over your shoulder, just anything. also, lie flat in bed, no pillows…and just lift your shoulders off the sheets, don’t bend your neck,,, that slight lift will do wonders for toning the tummy.
finally, tighten all your muscles groups, as a group, and holdddd for a bit, release, repeat as often as you can. weight loss, then toning is so easy. simple moves, using things around the house..and doing toning lying in bed. doesn’t get any better than that, does it??

You should try Zumba which is four dvd workouts helpl you tone up and lose more weight plus its fun cause its mostly dancing!

Wow, great job on the weight loss, I’m sure that took a lot of discipline. You could try “warming up” your body to more movement by walking at a comfortable but brisk pace every day for 30 mins for like 3 or 4 days before you start a more intense workout. There are DVD’s on a beginners level if that’s how you want to workout. But you could also take a class in something that interests you – like me, I love yoga. It’s not the only thing I do to workout but it’s definitely my favorite. Yoga is sooo relaxing but is still an awesome workout, and has other benefits too. Anyway, there are tons of things like that to try. No matter what you try though, you’re gonna be sore. It’s just part of the process! Sorry! I’m pretty sure that drinking more water can help prevent/relieve some of the soreness, and if it drives you crazy at first you could always take advil.

Walking. Find a partner if you can. If there are local municiple fitness clubs (YWCA) they may have classes on getting fit.

I would recommend walking and then slowly start running. Also get into Yoga workouts. Goodluck and once again congrats! You deserve a pat on the shoulder for that!

well,i started walking an extra mile everyday and i lost 25 pds.Mabey it could work for you.It toned me every where.Good luck!!!
